The free app gives you two options for selection to maximize your enjoyment - you can choose basic/random selection, which just randomly chooses your Mastermind, Scheme, Villain, Henchmen, and Heroes.
It will be a small expansion with 100 cards, which probably means 5 heroes and 2 masterminds, along with some schemes. The next expansion in line for the every growing Marvel Legendary will be Annihiliation. Simply pick the number of players and the app will select a Mastermind and a Scheme, then automatically assign Villains, Henchmen, and even build out your Hero Deck for you, all with instructions on Scheme Twists and any other special rules applied by the Scheme.
